Six of DCA's exciting drum and bugle corps will decend on the Atlanta area this August as Atlanta CV presents "Southern Showdown". This annual competition will feature performers from around the Southern part of the US - including Carolina Gold, the defending DCA Class A Champions and perennial DCA Open Class Finalists Atlanta CV. Florida's Sun Devils and Tampa Bay Thunder will also be competing, along with Shenandoah Sound of Prince William County, VA and Cincinnati Tradition out of Ohio.
Current members of the 2013 corps can easily access their online accounts for news, information, downloads, tuition and fee payments and more by logging into Atlanta CV's Corpsdata online system.
Atlanta CV has added two new key members to the design team for the 2013 season. Brass arranger Jair Klarfeld and drill designer Brian Youngblood will be working closely with Program Coordinator Victor Mooney and Caption Heads Alan Armstrong, Chris Romanowski and Carlos Gonzalez to produce CV’s 2013 program “Carpe Caelum: Seize The Heavens.”
Klarfeld, who resides in San Antonio, TX, has more than 20 years of experience arranging for bands, jazz and concert ensembles and drum and bugle corps. More than 400 groups have performed his works, including marching bands at the highest levels of Bands Of America Grand Nationals, BOA Regional competitions, USSBA State competitions and other prestigious venues.
I am extremely excited to announce our Percussion Staff here at Atlanta CV for the 2013 season. The wealth of knowledge that they bring to the table is impressive and very exciting. With our front ensemble, Mr. J.T. Snell is returning for 2013, as well as Mr. Eric Brown with our battery section. Mr. Matthew Manturuk who is currently in the Annapolis Navy Band is returning as our Front Ensemble Arranger.
New to 2013, Dr. Jeff Grant brings a wealth of percussion experience to our front ensemble. He earned his Doctorate in Percussion from Southern Miss where he studied with John Wooten, and is a former member of the Spirit of Atlanta ('92/'93) and the Cavaliers ('95).
